How did you hear about IHC?

I heard of IHC from a friend in my fraternity during my 3rd year. He told me if I liked helping people and enjoyed eating bomb TJ tacos, then this organization was something I should look into. He wasn’t a STEM major, but yet he talked so passionately about how amazing his experiences with IHC were. I wanted to see first-hand what he was talking about.

What projects are you currently involved with?

I am currently working on a community wellness project, where IHC members engage with the community members of TJP to create a collaborative mural. A mural project has two important features: the process and the product. In the process, individuals come together to develop a vision and work collectively to achieve a common goal. This process leaves a product – the mural. The mural does more than instill community pride. It will serve as a visual reminder that by working jointly the community can meet its challenges. I am looking forward to how the final product of this mural turns out.

What is one of your favorite moments with IHC?

My favorite moment with IHC was going on the Scorpion Bay trip and really getting to know the IHC members on an intimate level. Sign up for the upcoming Scorpion Bay trip and see for yourself ;)

What inspires you?

My education has taught me this: the more I know, the more I know that I don’t really know. This is what inspires me to wake up every morning with a sense of purpose.

Tell us a funny or embarrassing story!

Embarrassing story: During my middle school years, I set off a stink bomb in my school cafeteria when it was lunchtime. The smell caused everyone to evacuate. I was eventually caught and punished with detention and Saturday school. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I ever do it again? Probably not.
